Realvnc and dtlogin at startup: how to do?

I know how to use a "simple" vnc session.

and I had a cde session wich start on port 5901

vncviewer host:5901

But I want a "dtlogin" screen starting on port 5900 Like MacOS, how to do? I have tried to start with

vncpasswd -service
vncserver-x11 -service -vncconfigfile /etc/vnc/config

But when I connect with vncviewer I get only a black screen

Which files to modify to get dtlogin screen? System is Hp-ux 11.31 and vncserver is Realvnc

Re: Realvnc and dtlogin at startup: how to do?

Although the Hewlett Packard Response Center does not officially support VNC here are some hints you have to follow.

Go to and download the VNC bits from there. In addition, make sure to get the client bits for the OS you want to use to access the HP-UX system.

Install the VNC server software on the HP-UX system and start the VNC server. For example, if it was installed under /opt/vnc and a display address of 10 (6000 + 10) will be used, execute

# /opt/vnc/bin/vncserver :10

Next use the vnc client on the Linux system or MS Windows system and connect to the vnc server by using the address: hp_system_name:10

NOTE: make sure to replace the string “hp_system_name” with the real full qualified system name.

This will create a $HOME/.vnc directory in the user's home directory on the HP- UX system.

Change the $HOME/.vnc/xstartup file as follows, but keep in mind that the path should be adjusted if vnc was installed in a different directory.

[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources

Note: CDE-English is not installed as part of default installation of HPUX B.11.31, You must install it from OS DVD.
Command to verify if CDE is installed: swlist -l bundle | grep -i cde

# Under CDE the Xsession startup will start CDE in case the
# dtlogin process is already running, make sure to have dtlogin
# running.
/usr/dt/bin/Xsession &

# Start vnc config tool
/opt/vnc/bin/vncconfig -iconic &

# Connect to local xfont server, make sure it is running
/usr/bin/X11/xset fp+ tcp/localhost:7000

# ORIGIN RealVNC added Entries
# xsetroot -solid grey
# vncconfig -iconic &
# xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" &
# twm &
