RedHat 4 SAN boot from storage using Device Mapper

Has anyone tried booting Redhat 4 update 2 or Update 3 SAN boot using qlogic cards and Device Mapper (DM) for multipathing. I have heard that you need to do some tweaks to get Device Mapper working for Boot disk if its SAN booted. Please share the steps if you have done it.

Thanks.

I've not tried booting, but I have had no end of problems with qlogic cards and device-mapper for an MSA1000. What make/model is your equipment? Have you tried to get multipathing working without the boot option? I think that should be your first step.

DOn't use device mapper for booting, and make sure that the qlogic drivers and firmware are current.

Re: RedHat 4 SAN boot from storage using Device Mapper

I am using the HP DL380 machine with qlogic HBA QLA2342 and storage is 3PARdata. I am able to run device mapper without the SAN boot disks but wanted to see if anybody has tried with SAN boot disk .
