RedHat 9.0

Can anybody tell me how to get RedHat 9.0 for free? Or do I have to buy it ? Thanks

Hi Kyle,

Just download it from red hat, iso or rpms. I usually download iso and burn them. The 3 firts cds are OS, the 4th docs, and 5th source. I usually just download the OS...

Most of the time, you also can find it in computer mags, but I do not know which one right now... Downloading is easy...

There are hundreds of mirror sites, all available from the download link of http://www.redhat.com

If you want to buy it with support, you can do that at redhat.com or any Best Buy or equivalent computer store.

If you buy a book called the Red Hat Linux Bible, for $49, you get a copy of Red Hat with the book.

usually I download .iso images from ftp.funet.fi, and from here (Italy) it is really fast. You have to browse into a jungle made of subdirectories, but it isn't difficult to find them.

Wow, i was just looking at the installation processof 9.0 on the redhat site and it looks long and complicated, at least for me the novice red hat man.

Well,

redhat ftp is crowdy, having 2 or 3 'reload' usually makes it. It's less crowwdy at morning GMT time.

As for mirrors, here's the list :

Don't listent to what redhat say, they are looking at every case. Just download .iso files, burn them, and boot your computer to install on CD1. That's it.

Dont be put off by the install doc of RH it is relatively easy to do with latest distributions, particularly if you use a dedicated desktop, you just need to follow instruction after succefull boot of the 1st cd and take your time to read the few lines of online doc during install you should be OK, and you can always drop a line here if you need help, most probably someone will have the answer and be willing to help.

The only risk you take is having fun and learning a lot in the process!
