RedHat Linux 8 install problem on HP Netserver LH4 , No hard drives found

I have been trying to install Redhat Linux 8 on HP Netserver LH4 but it always give "No Hard drives found on system" error and installation stops.

While setup it shows loading correct drivers for SCSI drives but then it does not recognize.

Kindly help

Thanks

The SCSI card needs to be on Red Hat's hardware list.

If so, you may need to change the settings on the card. That's usually ctrl-c at bootup.

You may need to contact the manufacturer of the card, I don't know where HP gets them.

What are the HDD's connected too? Using the Internal Hot-Swap cage, connected to the On-Board AMIRD (based) RAID controller? Or do you have them connected to the Symbios onboard controllers? or some other controller plugged into one of the PCI slots ?

All of the controllers listed above should be usable in a RH system (I admit, I've not tried 8, but various V7's and 6's work fine in this class of machine).

Also, when booting up with the installation, view the 3rd and 4th VTY's (CTRL-ALT-F3 & F4) and see if you can see the containers on the disk.

The other dumb question is have you created any containers in the RAID controller BIOS?

You know Sunil, I'm yet to use one of these to load an OS, and I've not had any issues.

Guess I got into that bad habbit when most of the Navigator/Smart start CD's didn't include the OS' I was loading ;P

For the most part, they don't make th einstallation any easier if you know what you are doing. The Linux Installs these days are simple enough.

Hello!

Probably that installation CD don't have
drivers for your controler in the boot
image that he use in install process.

Hi Rizwan,
You could try this:
In the boot enter in the scsi configuration (offen CTRL-A), and change the kind of terminator in your scsi. (Autoterminated or not)

Try to install linux again.
