Redhat 4.8 desktop with KDE
I am helping user who is using Redhat 4.8 with KDE. While he is working he can not open any other documents/application/terminal. Whenever user double click the icon or try to open with keyboard, it shows at the bottom panel the program is opening but after few seconds it disappears. But user can still use already opened applications. I can not see anything in /var/log/messages.
Please help.

Re: Redhat 4.8 desktop with KDE
Can't the user simply restart his KDE session by youkilling the underlying processes for KDE?

Re: Redhat 4.8 desktop with KDE
Yes, but that happens more often. By restarting KDE session it works fine for a while and then it start behaving same way.

Re: Redhat 4.8 desktop with KDE
Have you patched your system lately?
Is it using the official KDE packages from Redhat if there are any? (I only use KDE on Ubunu -- Kubuntu).. It's always Gnome for us on Redhat.
Which reminds me, can't you just go with Gnome? Or even try moving to the later RHEL 5.X Desktops (if your user is using the Dsektop flavour of Redhat).
