Redhat Linux 7.0 and External Colorado Tape Backup

Hi

Does anybody know if drivers/utilities exist for the 7/14GB external Colorado tape backup to run under Linux?

Thanks

Roy,

You shouldn't need any Drivers. Just make sure that the Kernel understands the communications type (ie. IDE or SCSI). The Kernel will take care of the rest!

Hope that helps.

Re: Redhat Linux 7.0 and External Colorado Tape Backup

The external tape drive plugs into the parallel port, printer is plugged into the drive. No SCSI, no IDE device- but a parallel device. I have KDat that came along my Linux distribution. It allows a tape device to be specified: /dev/tape, but I think it assumes an IDE device is installed. I can give it a new device, but I don't see/know of one to use in the /dev area. When I try to do anything it says "no tape in drive". Am I headed in the right direction: to look for a device in the /dev area to set in KDat?
Thanks.

You should try /dev/pt0 and see if that makes any difference.
