Replacing damaged Smart Array controller

what are the proper steps to follow for replacing damaged smart array controller with a new (same)one. and how to get back old configuration/logical drives.

Don't worry - the information about the array stays in the HDDs themselves - in the RIS part. So you just only have to remove the controller, to install the new one, connect the cables and just enjoy ;)
