Restoration of XP when you don't have the same components in the system
If you have a hard drive crash permanently and the restore partition cannot be accessed and you replace it with a new drive but in the interim you have put in a different video card and a DVD Burner, can you still restore the HP computer using the System Restore and System Recovery CDs?

Re: Restoration of XP when you don't have the same components in the system
I expect that as long as you just run VGA it should work OK even if it doesn't have the right driver for your video card. You may have to reinstall the software for both unless it gets detected automatically during the restore. You will probably need to call Microsoft to get a reactivation number.
No doubt your recovery software is not up to the latest so after you get it running you will need to go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and let them scan your system for needed updates. Hope you have a fast link.
