Rlogin Problem

Hi
My problem is I can make an rlogin from a HPUX machine quite quickly from one login but it is really slow from another. (even though both logins are going to the same destination server)
I have checked the set up of both logins and they are the same
Thanks

Re: Rlogin Problem

Shalom,

Add an entry to both systems /etc/hosts file to handle name resolution of both HP-UX systems.

This is a fairly typical problem with HP-UX. All network services on HP-UX seem to work better if there is a self resolution line in /etc/hosts

I also recommend dropping rlogin in favor of openssh. What you are doing can be done in a secure fashion.

Re: Rlogin Problem

Huh? Who is logging into what from where?

uname -a

A Forum search for keywords like, say,
slow telnet
should find many old threads which discuss a
variety of (possibly) similar problems. Bad
reverse DNS may be the most common cause, but
without a useful description of exactly what
you're doing, it's hard to guess the cause.
