SAP/Linux/ORACLE

We are looking at utilizing RH7.1 on SAP application servers connecting to SAP database, currently ORACLE 8.06 with an upgrade to ORACLE 9.2 later this year. Database is on HP-UX 11.0.

Has anyone tried anything similiar or actually implemented?

Re: SAP/Linux/ORACLE

IMHO, the only option we have now for enterprise, it's RH Advanced Server - because RH7.x and 8.0 will died (end of support) this December.

Re: SAP/Linux/ORACLE

If you wish to use Red Hat 7.x you should use Red Hat 7.3 with all security and bug fixes installed.

The best policy, especially with Oracle is to use the last release of Red Hat in the series, 6.2, 7.3 because that is the most stable.

If you want to invest the money you'll be better of with Advanced Server because Red Hat supports it 18 months versus 6 months on the totally free side.

Last release cycle they didn't do a lot of supplemental releases in the 8.x series. I don't know how stable it was with Oracle. The 9.x series is still in the .0 stage which means I wouldn't touch it with anything but a sandbox.

In your shoes in spite of the short life cycle, 7.3 would be my free choice, followed by Advanced Server.
