SMTP Setup to Forward to Exchange Mail
My HP-UX 10.20 servers forward email via mailx just fine when I have the /etc/hosts file entry:
[IP Address] roseville.ca.us
but the problem is that is our domain name minus the Exchange server name versus having the correct /etc/host file entry of:
[IP Address] mail.roseville.ca.us
But this will not work for email considering my email is username@roseville.ca.us and not username@mail.roseville.ca.us.
So the question is what edit has to be made, to which sendmail config file? Do I need a /etc/hosts.smtp file?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: SMTP Setup to Forward to Exchange Mail
Hello Daniel,
you have to edit your "/etc/mail/sendmail.cf" for this.
There is a macro for it - I just cannot remember :-(
Well, I think it was "M", so you will have change the
line to
DM roseville.ca.us
Have not been there for a while, roseville...
Your "sendmail.cf" does contain a lot of comments about
this, so read it ;-)

Re: SMTP Setup to Forward to Exchange Mail
Your message is not quite clear. Are you saying that the mail forwarding is not working with the host entry mail.roseville.ca.us?.
If you want the mail to be sent through your exchange server mail.roseville.ca.us, you need to edit /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file and keep it as the "Smart Relay Host". Check for DS macro.

You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try
