SNMP on HP-UX 11i

First, let me say that beyond a basic idea, I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I need some rudimentary info on SNMP availability with HP-UX 11i. I've spent the last 3 hours searching on the HP website and there's such a glut of information, I can't find a simple answer to a simple question.

That said, do the default SNMP daemons like snmpdm, mib2agt and hp_unixagt that load up and run with 11i give me all I need to be able to set and send SNMP alarm messages or do I have to buy something like the Extensible Agent?

I work for a software development company and we are looking into application monitoring via SNMP and need to know if we do this if our customers must buy extra "agent" software or if they have all they need to transmit our alarm conditions with HP-UX 11i, out of the box.

Many Thanks,

Chuck

The management software openview (consists of ITO, NNM, etc ) are basically uses SNMP packets to communicate between agents and the Managament server.
Look for Openview products (VPO) in HP's web site.

Try this link for more info.
