SUSE 7.1 and USB Modem ??

Hi, I am having no luck getting my linux programs to 'see' my usb modem. when I do 'lsusb' I can see device 002 on bus 001.

I also added a line to my rc.config file as suggested by a guide on the suse website...

#
USB_DRIVERS="acm"
#

I also did the following to re-link the device file...

rm /dev/modem
ln -s /dev/ttyACM0 /dev/modem

My modem is a ST Microelectronics 'Pegasus' USB modem 56K.

Are these supported?
Can I make it work?

Any info much appreciated.

Ed.

Checkout http://www.linux-usb.org/ !
They have all the information on USB on Linux, including a list of working and non-working devices.

The second thing to check is, whether the device is claimed by any of the installed drivers. Check /proc/bus/usb/devices to find out.
Oh God, I hate this damn machine, I wish that they would sell it! It never does that what I mean but only what I tell it.
