Sendmail rejecting all connections

I am getting an error message that sendmail is rejecting connections. How do I fix this.

Re: Sendmail rejecting all connections

Hi Kathleen,

What is the command

ps -ef|grep sendmail

If it shows like "sendmail rejecting" then it is most likely that there is heavy load on the box. Do 'uptime' and find out how much load average is on the box.

If it is displaying like "sendmail accepting", then it is most likely a permissions problem like you should have

drwxrwxr-x 2 bin mail 96 Feb 27 03:58 /var/mail
-rw-rw---- 1 oracle mail 404444 Jan 12 02:08 /var/mail/oracle
-rw-rw---- 1 root mail 1522711 Feb 27 03:58 /var/mail/root

Look at the permissions and group ownerships.

You will see more details in /var/adm/syslog/mail.log file.
You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try

Re: Sendmail rejecting all connections

I rebooted the server and it seemed to fix the problem. I also installed the fix for the vulnerablilty that is out. Thanks for your help. It was showing in ps -ef that all connections were being refused. When I got it running, there were alot of connections showing in ps-ef. Thanks again for the help.

Re: Sendmail rejecting all connections

With recent sendmail vulnerabilities revealed, your server was invulnerable before you rebooted it.
