Spool management

Hi all,

As I know it's not possible to print a specific page, or range of pages, of a spool from operating system. I know that there are Comercial software that do this, but do you know any contrib software?

Regards, Vicente.

Re: Spool management

We are converting from openspool to Easyspooler.

Easyspooler does not handle pdf docs native, but I can give you a procedure for that.

Their support is pretty good, though sometimes they lose track of calls.

Re: Spool management

HP-UX provides no capability to understand pages. In fact, without a full-blown PCL and Postscript interpreter, it would be impossible to position based on pages. The reason is that the majority of print jobs contain extra fonts, graphics, even printer macros, all of which are required to setup the overall environment for the printer (and can't be skipped). So unless your print job is plain ASCII with imbedded formfeeds for each page (or no forms controls at all), there aren't any free choices. For plain ASCII files, you'll have to decide on a job-by-job basis whether to start the new page based on line count of formfeed count.
