Re: Stuart Brown Deserves double congrats.

As far as Devalle goes, encourage him to try out his English.

My Russian born wife knows basic French, so it he wants to dual language his post, we can work it out. You don't learn english without using it.

In France, HP-UX/Linux admin menus/conf and stuff is in English right? We should be able to communicate shouldn't we?

People like Stuart make this forum very valuable! Contratulations!
Contrary to popular belief, Unix is userfriendly. It just happens to be selective about who it makes friends with.

Re: Stuart Brown Deserves double congrats.

Stuart,

I have to admit that I agree with Steven on this one. It???s hard enough to get a hat of any kind in these forums these days with the stiff competition in every section, but to get a wizard???s cap in straight Linux has to be one of the toughest.

I have only begun to get my feet wet in the Linux world so I???m sure you don???t recognize me yet (you may wish you never had by the time it???s over, I can be a bit of a pest ;-) but I???m sure I will be seeing much more of you before it???s all over with.

Many, many congratulations to you and, as others have already said, WELCOME TO HOGWARTS!!

Re: Stuart Brown Deserves double congrats.

Once again, thank you to everyone..

Masanari, it's good to see you in here again ;) You'll have one of these funky hats soon, I'm sure.. Watch out for SEP though, he's catching up quick ;P

John, we're all here to help out in the community, so don't hesitate to ask, even if it seems dumb (you should see some of the questions I've asked in comp.unix.sco.misc :P)

I'd prefer a 'pest' (even if self named) who keeps coming back, than the one-off who's never heard from again ;) Some of those 'dumb questions' can be where the most information can be given.

Re: Stuart Brown Deserves double congrats.

hi stuart,

sorry to jump in. i have seen ur replies and have learnt a lot from it.

but at times when someone asks a dumb question, is to give him some hint and then point to the appropriate man page or the documentation.

yes. this at times makes people run away since all the need is spoon fed info and not just pointers. but if some one has the time to read the man pages and fishes out the solution, then he comes back to this forum and he is with us forever. having seen this on many mailing list, this is the path i follow.

and while on topic, wanted to point the forumers to this link. just got this from a mailing list.

sorry again for hijacking this thread.

and 3 more cheers to you.
