SuSE 9.1 Pro on HP DL140

I am having trouble getting the Broadcom Netextreme (BCM5704) nics to be recognized by the system.

I have downlaoded the latest Broadcom driver (7.1.22) and successfully compiled and installed it. however, I still am unable to setup the devices.

It appears that the kernel doesn't recognize something to do with the PCI bus, because I'm also unable to install a different PCI nic.

Here is the output of an lspci:
0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: ServerWorks GCNB-LE Host Bridge (rev 32)
0000:00:00.1 Host bridge: ServerWorks GCNB-LE Host Bridge
0000:00:03.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage XL (rev 27)
0000:00:0f.0 ISA bridge: ServerWorks CSB6 South Bridge (rev a0)
0000:00:0f.1 IDE interface: ServerWorks CSB6 RAID/IDE Controller (rev a0)
0000:00:0f.2 USB Controller: ServerWorks CSB6 OHCI USB Controller (rev 05)
0000:00:0f.3 Host bridge: ServerWorks GCLE-2 Host Bridge
0000:00:10.0 Host bridge: ServerWorks: Unknown device 0110 (rev 12)
0000:00:10.2 Host bridge: ServerWorks: Unknown device 0110 (rev 12)

On SuSE Enterprise 8.0, the lspci detects the broadcom devices.

Please help!

Re: SuSE 9.1 Pro on HP DL140

I've seen a lot of posts complaining about the broadcom drivers and Linux for the latest Linux and the the latest HP hardware.

Is Suse 9.1 certified on that hardware? If not, perhaps choose a distribution that is.

You've also failed to mention what sort of system you are using.

Re: SuSE 9.1 Pro on HP DL140

Unfortunately, the DL140 has not been certified on SuSE 9.1 yet, but I am required to use it.
