SuSE Linux Pro 8.1 on ProLiant 1600R
I've tried several boot options, nothing helped. I think it's a Problem with Kernel 2.4,
because Kernel 2.2 runs with no problems. So i've tried to install Red Hat 8.0, but there's the same problem, installation hangs Probing Monitor Type? (This Problem is discussed in several Forums, but no one seems to have a solution)
Maybe someone can help me?

If the machine is not going to be a work station, it doesn't really matter if X isn't configured at all/correctly.

Re: SuSE Linux Pro 8.1 on ProLiant 1600R
I solved this as follows:
- select "Manual Installation"
- load the raid array driver (cpqarray for my system)
- select "Installation"
- don't load any USB kernel modules
- deselect the hotplugging rpm package (this loads USB drivers), be aware the it??s not selected automatically again
Hope that helps,
Florian
