System Hangs on Boot

Hi there --

I completed an installation of Debian 3.1 onto a Visualize C3700 workstation. The installation type I am using is netinstall. After completing the first part, I reboot the workstation, but the system hangs on the part of the boot where the physical memory is being checked, and the OS never gets loaded. I know the memory is good, because as a test, I did an installation of HP-UX 11.11, and that installation went by without a problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Re: System Hangs on Boot

Shalom,

C3700 is a PA-RISC workstation.

You need a PA-RISC linux.

Itanium's need an ia64 Linux.

Alternately I think you need to manually dd the root disk prior to doing this reinstall.
