TERM settings for ibm3151 terminal

I have an IBM 3151 terminal connected to a HP-UX 11.00 box (don't ask). I have set TERM=ibm3151 and exported it, but SAM refuses to co-operate and a few curses based applications are displaying esc/ctrl characters rather than interpreting them properly. Any clues as to how to proceed?

Take it as a given that I have to use an IBM 3151.

I know you probably have, but have you tried setting a terminal emulator of vt100?

Yes I've tried vt100 (sigh) and vt220 etc.

No, the file /usr/lib/terminfo/i/ibm3151 doesn't exist on my machine, but unfortunately I am trying to fix the problem on another machine which (may) have the file.

I'll give just "ibm" a go and see what happens. Trouble is I'm directing someone in the US using IM, and I can't see what they are doing or what the response is, so I'm relying on (a) them doing exactly what I tell them and (b) accurately reporting the result.

I've managed to blag a "trial" version of a terminal emulator that supports ibm3151 (allegedly). So here goes ...

I untic'ed (well, actually infocmp'ed) an ibm3151 from a RH ES3 box to get the terminfo source for an ibm3151. I then copied to an HP-UX box and it tic'ed sucessfully so this should work.

See the attached, ibm3151.src.

All you need to do, is "tic ibm3151.src" as root and that will install the compiled version in /usr/lib/terminfo.

Thanks Clay, but I've fixed it by copying /usr/local/share/terminfo/i/ibm3151 to /usr/share/lib/terminfo/i/ibm3151

and now curses is happy. SAM isn't, but there you go.

If I get time I'll try and use Clay's file.
