Re: Technology gone mad

Welcome back, Paula!

How on earth did you happen to pick Dubai as a vacation destination, anyway? Is it a popular destination for you Brits or did you have to search long and hard to come up with something totally obscure.

Just curious,
Pete

High Princess,

(or would that now be "Priceless Paula"???) glad to hear you enjoyed your vacation.

Guess you spent a little time on "Jumaira Beach" (close to the "Burj Al Arab") while thinking about that phone? I personally believe that diamonds would ge better with platinum than gold, so I did non buy one (maybe there was another reason, but that's three months past and was not a vacation).

Did you try the "shishas" (water pipes)? Well, if you did, be careful with your replies here for a day or two (those shishas made me feel *dizzy*).

Regards from your fellow european,
Wodisch (who tries walking like an egyptian without towel right now).

Hey Merry,
where have you been to? And what did the mobiles look like, there?

Re: Technology gone mad

Hi Pete and Wodisch,

A friend who lives in Kuwait said "Fancy a holiday in Dubai" so how could I say no.

Did not try the water pipes but did try the dancing (not very good".

Food was wonderful.

Stayed in Metropolitan, Hilton Jumaira Beach, and Al Bustan (3,4 and 3 nights).

It is a marvellous place and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I will be going back next year to visit the Gold Suk (Market) and do some flying.

Wodisch is there a problem with your profile as you seem to be missing a few points?

Re: Technology gone mad

Hi Paula,

Another thought. I wonder how much it weighs. Phones are getting smaller & lighter these days, but then if you can afford the phone, you can probably pay someone to carry it for you !

Re: Technology gone mad

Smaller and lighter is right - a design was recently unveiled for a mobile phone that can be implanted into a tooth! (apparently, the signals would somehow be carried through the jaw bone)

I don't want to know how you'd charge the battery on one of those, and I can imagine horrendous problems if another tooth starts to ache, and then the phone rings, but at least it would force people to take their phones with them, rather than leaving them on their desks and wandering off.
