Traps are not generated by ENAMATE SNMP Agent on HP-UX
Hi,
I am planing to configure the ENAMATE SNMP Agent on HP-UX (B.11.23.0706).
I have configured SNMP agent on HP-UX as given below one part of snmpd.conf
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
get-community-name: getdata IP: 10.203.175.36 VIEW: mib-2 hp system interfaces internet at ip snmp
get-community-name: public IP: 10.203.175.36
set-community-name: private IP: 10.203.175.36
set-community-name: secrete IP: 10.203.175.36 VIEW: mib-2 hp \
system interfaces internet at ip snmp
max-trap-dest: 150
trap-dest: 10.203.175.36
contact:Aricent
location:GGN
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This if the only configuration i did for SNMP Agent and modified the snmpd.conf only.
I am facing two problems.
1- Traps are not received at 10.203.175.36; I tried to generate "Authentication failure" by using wrong community string in GET operation from SNMP manager and restarted snmpd to generate "cold start" trap.
2- using community string "getdata" I am not able to GET/GETNEXT any data and using "secrete" I am not able to set any data. even if I change the view part to VIEW: .1.3.6; it makes no change in the behavior, whereas "public" and "private" community strings are working properly.
Note: Whenever I modify snmpd.conf, I restart the snmp daemon using snmpd script.

Re: Traps are not generated by ENAMATE SNMP Agent on HP-UX
I have observed one more thing that whenever I restart my snmp daemon.
I see following logs in /var/adm/snmpd.log.
Has some faced this problem earlier, I had been banging my head on this problem for couple of weeks.
Your inputs might save my days and weeks :)
What is the meaning "AgentSocketPullInput: short read pending on socket close, data discarded" in third last line.
