Two versions of sybase and /dev/async

If I install two versions of sybase
(11 and 12) under HP-UX on one system
can they use the same /dev/async ?

The newer version will over ride any updates.

Yes. Why not? I have done similiar setup like what you said before and worked fine. (I was running Sybase 11.0.3.x and 11.9.2 in the same box sharing the same async driver).

It's probably not relevant but I've run two different versions of Oracle that used the same /dev/async.

It's probably not relevant but I've run Sybase 11.0.3. and 11.0.2 with no problems. For Oracle & Sybase installed in the same box but not concurent running create ln -s /dev/async /dev/async.ora and ln -s /dev/async /dev/async.syb and configure each database to access it own device. Of course, the scrit check first if the other db is running...
