UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
Hello all!
I'm desperate, because I don't know how to solve this problem. We have brand new UPS R1500 g3.
UPS works normally, everything is "green". But when I go to to HP Power Protector, there is a status of battery capacity always on 82%. We have replaced 2 UPS till now, but every time status of battery capacity is on 82%.
Firmware version is the latest : 1.08
DIP switches are positioned correctly.
I don't know what to do. Can you give me some advice?
Please see attached picture.
Thank you!!!
Janez

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
From manual:
Charge the batteries for at least 24 hours before supplying backup power to
devices. The batteries charge to:
- 90% of their capacity within 4 hours
- 100% of their capacity within 24 hours
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
Hi Torsten!
Thank you for your quick response.
Yes I did charge enough. UPS has been charging for about 14 days. And it is still on 82 %.
I though that something was wrong with UPS generally, so we ordered completelly new one, under warranty.
With new UPS situation is the same.
I took UPS to another location, pluged it in to a different "electricity"- same situation.
Please help.

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
I am having same issue.
Battery has been stuck at between 80%-81% on utility power charging for more then a month.
In addition it has begun alarming indicating a battery test failure.
Any suggestions? or solutions?

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
We're having the same issue.
Just swapped for another identical UPS (under warranty) - UPS battery capacity has been around 86% mark since installation yesterday.
The older UPS was at 82%.

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
Does anyone know how common this R1500 G3 UPS battery problem is? The first I have heard of this is from a SI case logged for a customer in Spain earlier today. Thanks.

Re: UPS r1500 g3 Battery Capacity problem
I also have been having this problem for months. In the end I put zabbix on the SNMP values to chart the problem. As you can see it has got to 100% once and then a few hours later started draining again. We've not had a power outage for months but still no reason to get rid of the UPS.
Load is mostly constant at around 11-12%
Actually I made a chart of output supply voltage vs. battery capacity and found this corelation. However, this should not be outside the realms of normal UPS operation. Input voltages look fine and as we are near the substation we get a supply voltage between 242v and 250v. The dip switches are configured correctly.
My UPS Details:
UPS Name : HP R1500 G3
UPS Part Number : AF471A
UPS Firmware Revision : 1.08
HP UPS Network Module Card Firmware revision : 1.05.001
Card Part Number : AF465A
Card Technical Level : 05
Card Hardware Revision : BC
Any help on this would be welcomed.
Cheers,
Al
