USB devices are not working with RH 9

Hi all,

I have PIV 2.4 GHz machine installed with Windows XP and RH 9. Though the USB devices like mouse and pendrive are working in windows but are not
working in LINUX. Everthing freezes as soon as
I connect the device. What could be the problem?
Kindly suggest how to sort out this problem.
