Re: UX CDE Installation

Hi:

CDE is no longer installed by default on 11iv3 (11.31).

Mount your Operating Environment DVD and install 'CDE-XXX' where 'XXX' is the language you want. For me, that's 'CDE-ENG'.

Regards!

Re: UX CDE Installation

The HP-UX 11iv3 media for installation has 3 categories of software to install
1. Must install (cannot de-select)
2. Recommended (will install but you can de-select)
3. Optional ( will NOT install unless you select)
CDE is in category 3, so you hav to manually select it to install
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

What was the command you used?
# swinstall -s /dvd CDE-ENG
(Where /dev is the path to your DVD mount point.)

> # ssh -X root@UCBIMAL0
ssh: Could not resolve hostname UCBIMAL0: host nor service provided, or not known

What are you trying to do here? Login to your same system? This won't use CDE.

Re: UX CDE Installation

As mentioned on the above post,
Look for X-windows sw, download them and install in your PC, try to export DISPLAY of HPUX Server to using your PC - IP address

#export DISPLAY=:0.0

#xclock -> test with xclock command
