Simpler Navigation for Servers and Operating Systems - Please Update Your Bookmarks
Completed: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We combined many of the older boards, so you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. Check the consolidated boards here as many sub-forums are now single boards.
If you have bookmarked forums or discussion boards in Servers and Operating Systems, we suggest you check and update them as needed.

Ultrium 5 Tape Blade seen as cd-rom

We have a SB3000c Ultrium-5 Tape Blade. It comes with a SmartArray P212 controller. After "echo 'engage scsi' /proc/driver/cciss/cciss0" it only shows up as CD-Rom:

scsi2 : cciss
Vendor: HP Model: Ultrium 5-SCSI Rev: Z38D
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 06
scsi 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 5
sr0: scsi-1 drive
Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0

Doesn't matter if the kernel module for st or osst is loaded first or later via modprobe. lsscsi also shows it as cdrom:

ns03new root /home/ulf # lsscsi
[2:0:0:0] cd/dvd HP Ultrium 5-SCSI Z38D /dev/scd0

The documentation from HP for this product is really abysmal.
