Hi,

I don't think so. Only 11.23 can be upgrade to 11.31. You have probably to do a fresh installation of 11.31.

Normally what recomented is,

2. Install the fresh 11iV3 OS

3. Then restore the backup

Re: Upgrading HP-UX 11iv1

Hi all. thanks you all. Got that ... Updating from HP-UX 11i v1 to HP-UX 11i v3 is not supported. One must first update to an HP-UX 11i v2 Operating Environment.

yes Michael...need to check on supported models and firmware versions on all components.

Thanks for your quick response

Re: Upgrading HP-UX 11iv1

How do I check on the existing firmware versions of the various components. There are SCSI, FC, Ethernet, etc. I would like to learn the correct methods to collect these bits of information.

Also, are there any known problems with 3440/3410 upgrading to/running 11iv3/v2 ?

From GSP prompt use the SYSREV command to find out the firmware details:

Example:

SYSREV

MP FW : F.02.23
BMC FW : 05.24
EFI FW : ROM A 07.14, ROM B 07.14

Check here the server compatibility matrix, if rp3440/3410 is supported for 11iv3 upgrade:
http://h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/downloads/public_hp-ux_systems_support.pdf

The document says it is supported for 11iv3.

- Also to check the sotrage compatibility you have run the msv2v3check utility once it is upgraded to 11iv2 . The result to be check by HP for firmware compatibility or if any component such as PDC or SCSI firmware needs upgrade before going to 11iv3 upgrade.
