Upgrading SSH on HP-UX 11.11

While upgrading SSH ver. on HP-UX 11.11, will reboot require? Is it possible to upgrade while login through SSH?

Hi,

reading installation instructions you don't need a reboot:

I would suggest you connecting by telnet and first stop SSH service:

/sbin/init.d/secsh stop

Then upgrade as from Installation Instructions and start the service:

/sbin/init.d/secsh start

I think it is a "clean" way to upgrade SSH.

Shalom,

swremove recommended but not required.

swinstall in place with users and everything is quite possible.

Any software requiring a reboot with swinstall, will prompt for the -x autoreboot=true prompt if yo try swinstall without the reboot option.

I have done this on al lour servers, it is pretty straight forward
- No reboot required
- Will not terminate any existing connections
- You don't have to stop & start ssh
- During the installation no one would be able to conect which is like 2 mins. maximum.

Try first on a test server and proceed, good luck.

I logged in through console, halt the ssh service & upgrade the SSH. No reboot required. Current connection will work as it is.
