VA Hangs with Linux AS2.1 on Prolient DL380 using Qlogic FC HBA
My customer has two AS2.1 servers connected happily to a VA7410 using two FCA2214 Qligic HBA's in each system. They have recently added another 2 DL380 server's running the same kernel, 2.4.9-e25, and using the same HBA's but this time the VA hangs soon after either one of the new server's is booted. The array is unresponsive and to reboot it the power cable must be unpluged. All the HBA's have F/W ver 1.29 and are using the Linux driver ver. 6.04.01. They also use SanSurfer to manage failover and load balanceing.
If anyone has seen these symptoms before or has any idea's on it I would be very greatfull.
Thanks
Declan

Re: VA Hangs with Linux AS2.1 on Prolient DL380 using Qlogic FC HBA
Hi,
Could you please post the SAN topology ?
Another point, what is the firmware of the VA7410 ? At least you must have HP18.
Good luck,
Kodjo

Re: VA Hangs with Linux AS2.1 on Prolient DL380 using Qlogic FC HBA
Hi,
The server's are connected via 2 FC 16B switches in Fabric mode.
There are also 3 Netwere servers in a cluster and also a win2k server connected, but these have been ruled out as the problem also occures when all these servers are shutdown. There is also an MSL5060 Library with an NSR router this has also been ruled out.
Th VA7410 ha beenupgraded to A120 F/W.
We believe the problem lies somewhere in the build of the new server's. The 2 old server's, which are working fine, were built by an outside consultant we have followed his documentation to the letter but we seam to be missing something...
Hope this helps...
Thanks
