Re: What is a HP-UX S700 IA syatem?

The zx2000 is an itanium II based workstation (has nothing to do with 700 series).

http://www.openpa.net/systems/hp_zx2000.html

Even if it is no longer supported, it will run 11.23 (IMHO even a cuurent version).

Do you already know the software/firmware download site?

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=82076&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=82074тМй=en&cc=us

Hope this helps!

Re: What is a HP-UX S700 IA syatem?

I don't know how supported it is, but:

dyi # model
ia64 hp workstation zx2000

dyi # uname -a
HP-UX dyi B.11.31 U ia64 4235313755 unlimited-user license

> Are you sure that [...]

Installing 11.23 (and up) on a _PA-RISC_
workstation may be expected to fail.

Where that "S700" (nonsense) came from is a
mystery to me.

I actually had 11.23 running on a C3000 workstation, until the workstation died.

The one caveat was that it was very picky about the video card.

As I recall, I got it to run on my c3700,
too, unless no graphics counts as not
running. 11.31 refused to boot. I decided
to stick with 11.11.

There was one it liked?

Re: What is a HP-UX S700 IA syatem?

IMHO the main difference between such workstations and servers is the AGP based graphics card (e.g. rx2600 vs. zx6000), so I would assume that a PCI based graphics (e.g. the Radeon 7x00) would work.

I got 11.23 to work with CDE loading successfully with a Visualize fxe graphics card. IIRC that is a very low end graphics card.

I had a higher-end card working with 11.11, but 11.23 did not like it at all and I had to revert to the fxe card.

11.23 Sep 2004 ran smoothly on the machine.
Closing.
