X-Terminal, Entria

I have an old X-terminal C3235a. It has firmware B.06.01 and I am using enware version b.07.11 and HP-UX B.11.0, but I also have software loaded on an IBM-AIX and get same problem.
I have changed no software but I did change from using thin net to 10 base T. Which is connected to the internet using a cisco 10/100
switch [Catalyst 3500 XL 12 port]. I also had to change all of my ip addresses.

When I turn on xterm It recognizes 10 base t
but puts a big red x through icon. Then gives error messages "NoEtherTwist hub detected"
then for each of the two file servers that it is suppose to down load from it says that they are down or unreachable.

from xterm configure screens when I go to telnet option I can telnet into both of them.
I ran all enware test on unix boxes and could find no problems

Does anyone know how I might correct problem

Re: X-Terminal, Entria

Hi Brian,
We have a similar setup here. I have an Entria C3230A with release B.07.11. When I first power up the unit I have the red X through the 10BaseT card with the No EtherTwist hub detected message. After the downloading of the X server software is done, The "X" goes away and the Xterm boots to broadcast. I'd be interested in seeing what you Xterm settings for download are.
We have are network parameters set to "From Fields Below" and are defining the file server.

fyi ;

s700_800 11.00 HP ENWARE B.07.11.00PL02 06/2000

PHSS_21692:1. PANap19385 - B.07.11 always switches to
the alternate file server
When both primary and alternate file-servers are
configured, the XTerm always downloads its code from
the alternate file server.2. PANap19485 - Envizex and 10/100 networking
When booting through an auto-sensing 10/100 switch
(HP ProCurve 10/100 J3295A), the Envizex could no longer
download the binaries/config. from the server. Messages are displayed :
"No cable" "No etherTwist hub detected"
3. PANap19539 - Envizex connected to auto-sensing 10-100 switch fails booting ...

maybe worth installing ? Or are you using hubs/routers ?
what about autosensing ?

Re: X-Terminal, Entria

We have had similar problems with our entria II and envizex II xterms. I ended up turning off autosensing and turned on portfast on the 3500XL and this fixed part of the problem.
>conf term
>int fa 0/8
>speed 100
>duplex half
>spanning-tree portfast
>exit

I still have the problem that these boxes are really slow on this switch. When I revert to using an old Catalyst 1900 these problems go away.

Re: X-Terminal, Entria

try putting a hub between the xterm and the switch!.. it just may work.
Turn spanning tree off.
And follow Alexs' patch suggestion.

It works for me (tm)
