X11, linux server, HP-UX client

From RH linux, (gnome I think) I rlogin to HP-UX, export DISPLAY and start the application (ESRIs arc). The map comes up but the color is bad (yellow instead of white) and it flashes!

Ideally I would like to set Xresources on linux just for this terminal without affecting the rest of the linux desktop.

How can I do this?

Easier than I thought!

As root on linux, go to System Settings, Display, Display settings, set Color Depth to 256.

Et Voilà, colors from HP-UX client are good.
