Xvfb init scripts

Here's the issue. I have an HPUX box running 11.11. Xvfb is installed. I just need a startup script. Yes, I can right one, but I am not interested in re-inventing the wheel. When I did a search a few months back I was lead here:

ftp://hprc.external.hp.com/Xvfb/

username/password: xgraphic/xgraphic

There are startup scripts located there. I am not sure which one to use for 11.11. I am not sure it even matters. I found a doc awhile back about which to use but have been unsuccessful in finding it again. Any help would be gratly appreciated.

Re: Xvfb init scripts

Shalom,

Use the newest version it will probably work unmodified.

The tar files all contain valid init scripts.

It may be necessary to modify the behavior of the daemon for oracle reports in /etc/rc.config.d/xvfb

Re: Xvfb init scripts

Hi Court,

xvfb_init.0.2.1.tar.gz looks good to me. The init script and config file are pretty basic, so a quick visual inspection should tell you whether they'll work or not.

Re: Xvfb init scripts

Yeah, I already installed the script in a test environment. I am working with our dba to see what display needs to be set. Thanks for the replies.

Re: Xvfb init scripts

hi,

if you are using this for Oracle Reports, this works perfectly well. The good thing is that you can start it automatically unlike if you were using a true X display.

We have been using it for years.

good luck!

kind regards
