Yast started automatically and shutdown system when it's closed

Hello,

We have Suse Linux 9 Enterprise Edition installed on ProLiant DL385.

It worked fine till this morning. We started GUI and Yast2 was started automatically. Problem is when we close Yast2 GUI shutdown.

I checked all logs I know (messages, warn,...) and I found nothing.

Do you have any idea about?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,

Carles

Re: Yast started automatically and shutdown system when it's closed

Hello,

was it a complete restart of the server or just a restart of the x-server? Is the shutdown noticed by "last", mean is there an entry for the reboot?
Best regards,

Re: Yast started automatically and shutdown system when it's closed

what happend if you kill yast with kill -9 pid_of_yast?

I haven't work with yast but can it be some yast setting?

is (was) yast in .xinitrc(there can be more of them, one in home directory of user who is starting X, and also in X11 dir, maybe also in /etc/X11) try to find and check them.(updatedb locate xinitrc as root ofcours).

Re: Yast started automatically and shutdown system when it's closed

Hello,

This morning I created new user and tried to execute X environment and it worked fine, so I assume problem is with root user only.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,

Carles

PS: About your comments, shutdown is last command and .xinitrc file exists only into /etc/X11/...

OK try to remove shutdown from that and then try run X as root.
