Have you tried simply deleting the printer and adding it back again? Deleting and adding it back may show additional error messages.
Note: The printer class is nothing special. It is a way to group several printers together, typically in a large print room. You print to the class name and one of the printers will get the job. Other than that, a class is just a printer. The relationships for printers and classes, etc, are kept in the pstatus file. It is a binary file so editing it is not possible. But you can clear a lot of problems by removing all the printers and adding them back again.
