allow pop-us
I use Windows 2k pro. SP4.
no google or yahoo toolbar.
no XP SP2 of course.
I uninstalled Norton which has been blocking pop-ups in other boxes I have seen.
any ideas will be appreciated.
regards.

Re: allow pop-us
do not think copernic or powerplay will kill pop-up, u may like to check Add/Remove for any pop-up zapper or killer programs u have.
u may also like to read this:

Re: allow pop-us
Mozilla, Opera, etc. have built in Pop-up stoppers.
If using IE then lets go ahead.

Re: allow pop-us
At the time the pop-up screen should show up, the box made a sound and the pop-up screen didn't show up.
Therefore I ended up searching for .wav files.
I can't remember the name of the file; but it gave me the path: c:\Program Files\Comet System\...
I unistalled the program. did a reboot.
Still didn't work.
Run Spybot S&D to get rid of the registry keys and values. That finally did the trick .

Re: allow pop-us
Yes, I have tried MS-Antispyware Beta.
However, I wanted to make the following remark:
I recall I did not delete the registry keys with Spybot S&D, but with Ad-Aware.
I only used Spybot to create a registry backup, since as far as I know, Ad-Aware wouldn't allow me to.
Surprisingly, Spybot S&D didn't detect any of the 227 infected items Ad-Aware did indeed.
tnks.
