c,sqc,bind package

hello:

I don't know if it's ok to post this question here. Now I in financial business.
They like to use cobol programing. But cobol can't direct access database. You have to use library writing from C ,before it ,you need to generate sqc file to contain table definition and related sql statement, and then transform to c format and compile to .o object file.And when I compile the .o file, it also build a database package from sqc file. My database is DB2.I am just wondering what's the relation between .o file and bind packages if you kow the knowlege. Thank you!!
