Hi TwoProc,
i did a fresh centos 4.8 install, i enable the bios with OS Selection: Select Windows 2000.
MPS Table Mode:Full Table APIC. following the instructions on those links.
here is the result
when booting, on grub i have two options
Centos (2.6.9-89.ELsmp) kernel panic when selecting this kernel
Centos-up(2.6.9-89.EL) booting without any problem.

processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 15
model : 2
model name : Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz
stepping : 9
cpu MHz : 2786.571

what i think it could be is that Bios Firmware are bad. but i already have the latest bios update for that server.
