change the font of a file

Hi

I want to send a content of a file using mailx

But problem is befor sending the mail I want to change the font of the file content in to courier font.

is there is any command to change the font?
please help me to solve this problem..

In basic text-based email, there is no font information: the font is whatever the recipient's email client application chooses to use.

To add font choice information to your email, you would need to send the message as HTML-based mail, or as some form of a document file: to do this, you need a more advanced email client instead of mailx.

Or you need to convert your file to a pdf or HTML or something like that and then send it with mailx.

standard mail is always pure text, that does not contain any format indicators.
like said before you can convert your text file to something else that can handle formatting, like pdf, html, ...

No one said that the file was a "text file".
(For all we know, it could be a JPEG image.)

We have no real information about this "the
file". Some actual information about what
"the file" is might help lead to a more
useful answer.

Hi Every one it is a text file of Oracle. It consist of bill or purchase order. If we send the content of the file by using mailx, it receive at user side in the "Times Romen" font(Its is in disorder format). If we change the font in to "courier" file regain its original shape and order.

If der is any solution for this...

How do you "change the font" of a text file?

As usual, showing actual commands and/or
actual file contents can be more helpful than
vague descriptions and interpretations.

The file was automatically created by Oracle Database...

wen the received mail content is copied in to the msoffice word, it showing Times Romen.

here i changed the font to courier it showing the right form

What you need to do is indeed convert the file to a different type of file.
HTML seems to be your best bet. Just start the file with:

then your text.

Then:

Most mail readers will accept this. If not, you need to make sure your mailer will send the file with content-type: text/html

Believe it or not, that doesn't tell me
exactly what's in the file, nor anything
about any font.

Well, duh. Do you think, perhaps, that the
font might be being selected by Microsoft
Word (or the person who is running it)?
(One might also ask, '"Copied in" _how_,
exactly?'.)

Nice of you to reveal (at last) that you're
using a Windows system, and that that's where
the problem is observed.

What does a program like, say, Notepad do
with this e-mail message file?


General advice:

Sometimes it can be helpful to describe
exactly what you're doing, and what happens
when you do it. Your interpretation of what
is happening can be (much) less valuable than
an accurate description.
