change to a larger hard drive
I want to change from a 6 gig hard drive to a 13 gig
my question is: can I use th HP System Recovery or the HP Disaster Recovery to
boot the new HD to avoid having
to start at square one, ie I wish to transver all data
from 6 gig to 13 gig. Will be thankful of any and all
help. Please email at byronp.gains@att.net
Thanks in advance

Re: change to a larger hard drive
I would firstly connect the drive as a slave and do a dump of your harddisk, if
your partitions are not NTFS the best idea is to boot up with a dos disk and do
an xcopy of the disk. Then swap the drives i.e master / slave and boot with
your NT cd and install the OS.
Another really handy tool is ghost, it can be used to copy images of harddisks
on to other hard disks.

Re: change to a larger hard drive
I don't know if the HP Disaster recovery software will do that, but I suspect
that it should. If you can't get it to work (try it out), check out a product
called "Drive Copy" from the makers of Partition Magic. It's designed to do
exactly what you're looking for.

Just simply use GHOST from Network Associates.
Try www.ghost.com. You can download a demo from there and clone in a easy way
those disks.
