clearcase dumps core ..
I am working with clearcase on HPUX 10.20 machine. I receive an error "Memory fault(coredump)" whenever i run cleartool and the system dumps core. So is there any way to get rid of this ??
Also i have tried restarting the machine and reinstalled the clearcase, but in vain :-(
Thanks and regards

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
Check to make sure that the software has any
specific kernel parameters and patches as
pre-requisites from your installation manual.

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
file core gave me the following o/p.
core: core file from 'cleartool' - received SIGSEGV
and the core file is dumped in the same directory where i execute any clearcase command.
I guess i have installed all the required patches ..
Anyother clues ??
Thanks

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
1)received a SIGSEGV for stack growth failure.
Possible causes: insufficient memory or swap space,
or stack size exceeded maxssiz. Memory fault(coredump)
Check swapinfo -t
increase maxssiz
2)swlist -l fileset -a state|grep -v configured
does it only give comment lines.

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
The following is the o/p of swapinfo.
Kb Kb Kb PCT START/ Kb
TYPE AVAIL USED FREE USED LIMIT RESERVE PRI NAME
dev 524288 0 524288 0% 0 - 1 /dev/vg00/lvol2
reserve - 54520 -54520
memory 92816 26688 66128 29%
total 617104 81208 535896 13% - 0 -
Do i still need to increase the size ??
Also i have attached the swlist cmd o/p. Is that what expected ?

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
1)the instaled lines are wrong
try
swconfig \*
Note the
2)Post the output of sysdef
especially
maxdsiz 16384 - 256-655360 Pages -
maxssiz 2048 - 256-655360 Pages -
maxswapchunks 256 - 1-16384 -
maxtsiz 16384 - 256-655360 Pages -
3)Does /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log contain messages when it dumps.
4)You are missing PHCO_18563 PHKL_20611
Load them

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
I have attached the swconfig and sysdef o/p.
Syslog file does not show any error at the time of the core dump.
Thanks

Re: clearcase dumps core ..
1)You need the patches
2)ERROR: "ux84178:/": 3 products are not compatible for this system's
architecture or operating system.
ERROR: "ux84178:/": The software dependencies for 4 products or
filesets cannot be resolved.
You have incompatible software . Can cause many problems.
: More information may be found in the agent logfile (location
is ux84178:/var/adm/sw/swagent.log).
3)Increase maxssiz and maxdsiz by 50%
regenerate the kernel
try again
