cmahealthd segfaults on CentOS 5.3

Recently installed the 8.25 HP SNMP agent tools on a ProLiant DL360 G4 running CentOS 5.3 x86_64.

Mostly working, but noticed the cmahealthd stopped running, and shows a segfault in /var/log/messages.

Not sure where to go from here...

Re: cmahealthd segfaults on CentOS 5.3

Shalom John,

Couple of things.

PSP is designed for RHEL, not Centos.

SNMP however should work, however the tools will not work until they are specifically written for RHEL 5.3. If not,you will need to remain on Centos 5.2

I had a similar problem. Turns out it was because I had VMWare installed (Not ESX, but the free VMWare Server software) on Centos 5.3. The PSP should, and does work fine with Centos. If you have VMWare server installed see this thread I created:

Re: cmahealthd segfaults on CentOS 5.3

Shalom,

These tools may not yet be certified RHEL 5.3

Or it could be they are actually RHEL specific.

PSP is not certified on Centos, its certified on Red Hat.

Normally that makes no difference but it may be a problem in this case.

Re: cmahealthd segfaults on CentOS 5.3

I am having the same issue here... CentOS 5.3 PSP 8.25 , even install HP's CentOS PSP package no luck , keep getting segfault on hp-snmp-agents , please reply if you found a S to the problem.

Thanks,

Re: cmahealthd segfaults on CentOS 5.3

hi I managed to solved the issue !

It looks like this will also happen due to a former broken PSP installation , where /ops/compaq , /opt/hp contains the same folders...

So I completly removed all the psp RPM , i.e. rpm -e ,

Made sure that all the needed packages for PSP are there.... (According to the PDF...)

Removed /opt/hp , /opt/compaq

Rebooted the machine , installed a clean PSP for CentOS 5.3 and it worked like charm !
