connect to Oracle is slow!

Dear all,

I found that it's quite slow when I connect to Oracle. Usually, what's the reason for that and how can I improve?

I found that CPU and memory of our Unix machine are in comfortable level.

Re: connect to Oracle is slow!

Ask yourself could you diagnose the problem with so little data? Is this a local connection to the database or is it a network connection? If network, the first thing I would look at is hostname resolution.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: connect to Oracle is slow!

It's a local connection.

Re: connect to Oracle is slow!

It seems that there's some runaway processes which cause the performance problem. After rebooting the machine, the problem was solved.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Hi Ckchoi,

If it is a local database and if you are using TNS service names to connect to the database, you can further improve the performance by using IPC cpnnections instead of TCP protocol.
