HP-UX 11.0 L2000.
I want to copy software, that has been installed on one server to another server.
The software is listed when we
run:
swlist -l product
How can we do this?
10 points to any good answer.
Thank you
Gino

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
What you're saying is once the software is installed we can not copy it to anywhere else? I don't have the original CD containing the
software. Does that mean we're out of luck?
10 points ot any good answer.
Thank you

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
Use swcopy to create a software depot on one server an then swinstall to install the software using your depot.

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
If you copy the installed software from one system to another it wouldn't work.
solution is installing on the another system also
If you copy the software, any commands like swlist, swremove wouldn't list that software i.e the software is not build into kernel

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
Just so we're clear on what you're trying to accomplish, what kind of software are you trying to copy? What's your goal, exactly? Are you looking to clone a system? Ignite/UX can help you do this. Is the software HP stuff or a 3rd party app?
At any rate, you need to be sure that you don't exceed the licensing terms.
Regards,
Dave

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
I have licenses for the software. I am trying to copy
a DB-SPI (ITO) from one ITO server to another for test purposes. The version of the DB-SPI is old and we are planning to upgrade but I need the original copy installed on our development
server first.

Re: copy sw from one system to another.
I think if you copy the whole server(which containing the software) to deveploment server it should be working.
Last time , when we want to copy the "A" software from production machine to development machine,we do :
1) Ignite the production machine.(backup vg00)
2) restore to development machine.
3) if space is not a problem, copy the whole vg to deveploment machine.
p/s:In case you are wondering, we do have "A" license to copy to development. :-)
