Solution
Yes, Ignite is far better than copyutil. Copyutil is accessed through isl.
You can use make_recovery -A -C -v -d /dev/rmt/om to see what ignite make_recovery is doing.
Check the FAQ from this link:http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/index.html

Re: copyutil vs IgniteUX
to use copyutil, you would normally have to bring the system down, and it is VERY SLOOWWW!
Ignite is a far better product, much more versatile, and easy to use.

Re: copyutil vs IgniteUX
Copyutil was never a supported tool. It was designed to make a smooth upgrade from HP-UX 9.X to HP-UX 10.0.
Due to the fact that copyutil makes an image copy of a disk is it slow. You will have a few hours downtime to back up or restore a usual hard disk.
make_recovery uses just the required data and does it online.
Don't even think about copyutil. It's not worth a second of thinking

There is no good troubleshooting with bad data
