deactivate display switch laptop evo

deactivate display switch laptop evo

under linux, pressing the display switch that is supposed to blank the screen does not work and makes the display scrambled.

Is there a way to get it work ?

Is there a way to deactivate it in bios or linux kernel ?

Thanks

P.S.: I managed to deactivate it by pure hasard after a kernel (2.4.20) compilation, but I did not keep this kernel and I doesn't manage to get it work again ! I tried with various acpi and apm combinations.

Re: deactivate display switch laptop evo

Have you tried checking

http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/compaq.html
http://www.tuxmobil.org/compaq.html

or a Google search to see if other Evo owners have the same problem and/or a solution? Often under Linux, special purpose notebook buttons simply don't do anything. You have to assign some kind of function to them, and sometimes you have to do something special to activate them first (as on HP notebooks).

With a new kernel and a new Xfree version, I don't have the problem anymore, don't know why.

Great links, anyway.
