driver deferred-attach feature - is this new ?
I have a PCI device driver (DLKM) which loads upon boot, however, the PCI device is not accessible (attached) until much time has elapsed. I can prove this using an ioctl call (in runlevel 2) that looks for attached devices -- there are zero attached devices.
Before patches were installed, this was not a problem. Does anyone know about this new "deferred attach" feature ?
How may I workaround the problem; i.e., how to guarantee the device is attached when I access it in runlevel 2 ?

Re: driver deferred-attach feature - is this new ?
FYI, I found the solution was to cat the driver name to the end of /etc/loadmods file. Not sure why the behaviour of the OS changed. I hear HP-UX 11i adds new kmadmin command-line options that make the /etc/loadmods solution obsolete.
Issue solved.
