emulate 700/96 with Linux

Greetings, all. I'd like to figure out a way to make a telnet session from a PC running Red Hat (either in an X-Window or not) to my hp/3000 look and act like a 700/96. I'm not sure if there's an emulator I'd need to get, or if it's as simple as setting an environment variable.
