error at install oracle 8.1.7
when I install oracle,prompt me about:
500_2$[/oracle/disk1]echo $CLASS_PATH
/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/product/jlib:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/JRE:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7/jlib

WHenever you start installing oracle it uses jre to build the applet during the installation (the GUI screen).
so when you run the installer it tells could not find a jre executable on the machine.
Probably is comes with the CD.
Are you using remote mount of CD.
This is okay you can download the latest jre version from the above mentioned site install it and add the jre executable path to the PATH variable.
THis should fix the error.

You should ensure that JDK 1.2.2 or latest is installed on the server as per installation requirements.
